At ANZ, clothing is a way to communicate. Our designs bring symbols, stories and cultural references into everyday life—allowing what we wear to express memory, identity and solidarity.
ANZ is a British independent fashion brand founded by Ainy. Her work is created in full solidarity with the people of Palestine and in support of their freedom, dignity and right to self-determination.
Solidarity in action
Since the brand’s inception in 2014, ANZ has donated a portion of its sales proceeds to selected humanitarian organisations and initiatives. This commitment has always been part of the brand’s identity—turning solidarity into tangible support as well as visible expression.
For ANZ, clothing can carry a message, begin a conversation and contribute to meaningful humanitarian work.
The responsibility to be visible
Throughout history, resistance and truth-telling have been censored, suppressed and pushed from public view. For ANZ, that makes it essential to use every platform available to express our values, our solidarity and where we stand.
These pieces are not intended only as garments. They can also be educational tools and starting points for conversation—inviting people to ask about the symbols they carry, the histories behind them and why keeping them visible matters.
Keeping symbols visible

The keffiyeh-inspired pattern
The keffiyeh is one of the most recognised symbols associated with Palestinian identity, heritage and resistance. ANZ uses keffiyeh-inspired patterns across selected garments as an expression of respect and solidarity.
These designs represent our commitment to keeping the message visible while acknowledging the culture and people from whom that symbolism comes.
The Palestine sunbird
The Palestine sunbird, the national bird of Palestine, is another important part of this visual language. It represents far more than wildlife: it carries associations with Palestinian land, identity, resilience and the refusal to be erased.
Attempts to disconnect an Indigenous people from their identity can extend beyond human stories to the names, landscapes, plants and wildlife connected to their homeland. By incorporating the Palestine sunbird into selected designs, ANZ honours that relationship and helps keep the bird, its name and its meaning visible.
Maps, memory and belonging
The map of Palestine appears throughout selected ANZ designs as a symbol of memory, belonging and an enduring connection to land.
Placed across silk scarves and statement pieces, the map becomes something that can be carried and worn—keeping its meaning present in ordinary life rather than confined to a single occasion.
Designed to be worn
Solidarity should not disappear when a demonstration ends or when public attention moves elsewhere. Our pieces are designed to bring meaning into daily wardrobes: on a scarf, through an embroidered pattern or within the structure of a garment.
